Lewisham Council Code of Conduct and Competence Policy Surveys

Lewisham Council is developing a new Code of Conduct for council housing staff and the organisations that deliver services on its behalf. The Council wants to work with residents to make sure this Code reflects what good behaviour and service look like from their perspective.

Following two resident workshops, Lewisham Council has used residents’ feedback to create a draft Code of Conduct. The Council would now greatly value residents’ views to help refine and improve it further.

The draft code of conduct can be found here.

Lewisham Council is also developing a Competence and Conduct Policy for council housing staff.

The policy sets out how Lewisham Council will:

  • Ensure staff have the right skills and knowledge for their role

  • Provide training and ongoing development

  • Monitor performance through appraisals and reviews

  • Address poor performance where needed

Lewisham Council wants to hear residents’ views to make sure this policy gives residents confidence in how staff are supported and managed. Residents are asked to review the draft policy and answer a few short questions. Their feedback will help Lewisham Council strengthen the policy before it is finalised.

The draft policy can be found here.
